Tasmanian Federation Index latest
=================================
The long-awaited Tasmanian Federation Index CD-ROM is expected to be
released during the next few weeks. It will contain indexes to births
1900-1919, and deaths and marriages 1900-1930, that were registered in
the Australian state of Tasmania. This CD-ROM is a Digger(TM) title, and
uses the same Digger Registration system as used in the Northern
Territory Deaths CD-ROM. The CD-ROM will cost $231.


Other upcoming Digger(TM) titles
================================
Expected before Christmas is the next in the South Australian
Registrations set of CD-ROMs. South Australian Deaths Registrations
1916-1972 contains, as the title suggests, deaths registered in the
state of South Australia between 1916 and 1972.

Another Digger(TM) CD that is likely to be released before Christmas
contains an index to several newspapers from Central Victoria. The
author has gone to a lot of trouble to extract as many useful items as
possible from these newspapers, and if you have family in the region
this is likely to be a very useful resource. More details later this year!


"Australian Indexes" talk slides available
==========================================
At the recent 11th Australasian Congress on Genealogy and Heraldry held
in Darwin, Anne Jessel of Coherent Software Australia gave a talk titled
"Idiosyncrasies of Australian Indexes". The printed paper and live
presentation covered "interesting" points Anne noticed while preparing
Digger titles for publication, and while using other indexes. The aim of
the talk was to help those having trouble finding entries that "should
be there".

The printed paper discussed the details of some of these idiosyncrasies
that might make it difficult to find the entry you are after. The
presentation went into more detail as to how you can deal with these,
including some worked, real-life, examples.

The presentation was very well received, and we have made the slides
from the presentation available for download as a PDF. The slides can be

New "Grok Genealogy" Blog
=========================
Coherent Software now have a weblog to which news and tips will be added 
at irregular intervals. This blog is currently accessible at
