Interactive Historical Maps

Each interactive map CDROM contains a separate map for each year, showing the country borders as at January 1 of that year. Therefore an individual CDROM may contain over 2500 maps, depending on the year range you choose.

The maps are interactive and scalable, allowing zooming and panning. Map layers, which can be turned on and off, include country names, rivers, vegetation classes and population densities, though these last two are only available for politically unorganised areas of the map.

Maps of the World include both the Old and New worlds (essentially the whole world), whilst maps of the Old World encompass only Europe, Africa, Asia and surrounding areas (that is, excluding the Americas).
