Online Ordering and Security

Our online ordering system uses the SecurePay SecurEpayment system. This system is designed to ensure your credit card details are completely secure, using the latest technology.

When you enter your credit card details into our order form, they are sent to SecurePay via a secure, encrypted connection. The SecurePay system is connected to the Westpac bank, so your purchases can be securely charged directly to your credit card without human intervention.

Once Westpac has authorised and implemented the transaction, our web site is notified, and we receive your order. At no time are your credit card details sent via an insecure connection. Coherent Software never receives any credit card information. All we are told is whether or not Westpac have approved the transaction.

This system has a major advantage over many other older online ordering systems. Many other older systems accept your credit card details over a secure connection, but do you know what happens to them then? Are your card details forwarded from the web server to the vendor in a secure manner, or via a standard (and insecure) e-mail? Many sites use the latter method. Even worse, some vendors have been known to store the credit card details on the web server, where they can be read by crackers.

The SecurePay system used by Coherent Software ensures you do not have to rely on us to always 'do the right thing'. We never receive your credit card details, so we couldn't do the 'wrong thing' with them even if we wanted to (which we don't)!

The only exception to all this might occur should the SecurePay system ever malfunction. If this happens, you will be given several options, one of which is to complete your order via a 'clear text' e-mail. If you choose this option, your credit card details will not be sent via secure connections. However, we make this clear before you commit yourself, so you won't be sending your credit card details via e-mail without knowing that is what is happening. And, of course, you will be given other options if you prefer not to do this.
